qualifications of Trevor Batchelor - the decorator
I left school in 1964 without any formal qualifications. However, being creative and artistic, I set my sights on becoming a craftsman in the painting and decorating trade. I was lucky enough to be offered an apprenticeship at the locally renown family firm of G. H. Mason of Skipton, established in 1870.

Throughout my six years of training, I worked along side true artisans, some of them being in the trade since the Great War, fortunately they passed their knowledge of traditional techniques and tricks of the trade on to me.

During those early years I attended Keighley Technical College on day release and at night school where I passed with credit, the Yorkshire Council for Further Education Craft Certificate, The City & Guilds of London Institute Advanced Craft Certificate and the City & Guilds of London Institute Full Technological Certificate. Finally in 1970 I attained the National Joint Council for the Building Industry Approved Apprenticeship Certificate and I became a journeyman painter and decorator.

In 1974, I decided to become a tradesman on my own account and I have been successfully trading now for over 25 years.
