Ragging or ragrolling is produced by manipulating a rag roll or pad upon a specially glazed surface to produce a finish not unlike crushed velvet. A more pronounced effect is produced when a plain surface is 'dabbed' with rag dipped in paint or glaze. Large areas such as ceilings and walls can be ragged or alternatively panels in doors or furniture with the frames and surrounds dragged can look particularly pleasing.
